Soniccouture Hammersmith Free by OK1
I recall listening to the demos of the Soniccouture Hammersmith full product - a sampled Steinway grand piano, and there was something about the demos, lots of production, rather than the naked sound of the piano itself.
At the time I was not convinced and did not buy it. The challenge with sampled pianos is you cannot test before you buy and there are no returns. So the world of sampled pianos has the buyer assuming ALL the risk.
It was most welcome to be able to download the Free version which works fine in Kontakt 6 Player.
Excellent features for customising the sound. Reverb, velocity.
What's the problem? The sound.
There is less of a change in timbre between the lower and the higher velocities, than I would have expected.
The volume of the low velocities, is disconnected from the volume of the higher velocities, with a hole in the middle.
You are either playing very quietly or very loudly. with no smooth transition between these extremes.
The free verson includes only the close stereo microphone recordings of the sampled piano.
I am not encouraged to invest in the paid version of this sampled piano.
