Elektrostudio Model Pro by Music Bird
For free, this sounds like a real Moog. It has some nice tones on it built in as presets, and I use the leads and bass in some tracks. I have used the basses in some songs for low end. Also, it works well for any genre. You also have sync which gives you the option of sounds like in Let’s Go or Hello Again.
The basses cover any genre, mostly pop, synthrock, funk, jazz fusion, disco, post-disco/boogie, freestyle, and even old school rap.
Lead wise, you can get anything from brassy saw leads to octaved oscillator stuff a la classic Minimoog solo to sync leads used in hit songs in the 80’s and 70’s like Let’s Go and Fox On The Run.
You have to multitrack it to get good pads and brass and strings since it’s monophonic.
Ease of use:
Very easy, almost too easy. You can get any sound off of this with a few clicks that can be achieved on many other VA softsynths.
Since it’s based on a Moog Prodigy it’s monophonic so you can’t play more than 1 note. It can still do a lot with the sync, 2 oscillators, filter, and 2 ADSR envelopes, as well as multiple waveforms like saw, square, pulse width, and triangle.
Bang for buck:
It’s easy to say it is, it’s free.
