Kurzweil Midiboard

Kurzweil Midiboard

4.5 4.5 out of 5, based on 1 Review

An excellent piece of gear, heavy but rich. Built as first series in the USA and the second one in Japan. Price is far below other wooden keyboards with PolyAT (e.g. Rhodes Chroma, SCI Prophet T8)

Kurzweil Midiboard

An excellent piece of gear. It's large and heavy, but no other master keyboard could sport all that expressive details.
The keyboard is built in wood; the Japan production series (by Suzuki) seems being the best one.

The key action sensors are unique: a high frequency waveform is sent over the contacts, made with elastomers that, when pressed, varies their capacity and controls the high frequency going to a receiver circuit: the harder the pressure, the higher the signal level. Dust or dirt cannot impair the sensor precision.

The MIDIboard developer kindly sends V.3.0 firmware to overcome some MIDI limitations of the previous releases.

The MIDIboard could transmit key attack velocity, release velocity and impact level over the keys (acceleration).

Its control panel looks quite aged, but all the controls are accessible either via sliders or via button matrix.
