General Music S3 Turbo by lucasasdelli
A very underrated instrument. The S2-S3 synthesizers were a very good attempt of GEM to gain some presence within the high-end workstation market. Although being totally digital, S2-S3 sounds fat and with lot of mix presence.
The excellent semi-weighted keyboard has metallic contacts and a very good polyphonic aftertouch, and is even sensitive to release velocity. Another useful feature are the double MIDI port sets, thus having control over 32 MIDI channels on two busses.
The audio path starts with a couple of digital waveform oscillators, has two digital multimode filters chain, four Analog Devices DACs, a pan section and a DSP.
A massive 250,000 note sequencer is available on board.
The very bright display guides across many functions, and seven programmable sliders + buttons are available to musician expressions.
A remarkable note is the lack of portamento, and the NiCd battery is subject to acid leak and it must be replaced soon with a battery pack to host somewhere inside the instrument.
Apart from the good timbre, it's a superb master keyboard.
