Question Marantz 420 CD/HDD Recorder Advice

I got hold of one of these. How would this compare to a DA-P1 regarding direct recording with AKG480B. My DAP1 is Oade modified. I was going to get a SD or the HDP2, but, since I just got this I was wondering if this would be a suitable substitute - or are the AD and preamps and issue with this? Has a 40gb HDD and I can give the client a reference CD on the spot. I do all the mastering at the studio when I get back. I'm not trying to be a gearslut having the latest and greatest. If this will do the trick for my stereo HS band/chorus/orchestra recordings, I'd like to stay with it. I don't even have the machine yet, just bought it used, sent it to Marantz for testing and replacement of the casing - looked kind of beat up on ebay - but for 267. dollars, I think I did pretty good considering it's over 1000. new. Marantz called and said it's working perfectly.
