I don't know if it was my cable provider or something wrong at the transmission end but the vocals for the halftime show were really, really low in the mix. I know most of it was lipped sync'd but not a good job with the mix. FWIW...
I know it was mostly lipped sync'd but the voice was so low in the mix and the whole mix sounded bad. At first I thought it might have been some problems with the surround mix when listening to it in stereo but other people have also noticed it. I listened to it on a pair of ALON IV speaker powered by a Bryston 3BST amplifier with the audio coming off my TV into a Benchmark DAC-1. Not a really good job of mixing.
Seems like they were trying to keep a lot of crowd noise in the mix throughout the show. Since it was a much smaller crowd - and less loud, relative to the PA - I'm guessing that was tough to manage.
I missed seeing the likes of MJ, the Stones, the "wow!" production with Lady Gaga, Tom Petty, and, particularly, Prince. This one was certainly far from "epic"... but, then... I'm old.
