I'm trying to learn more about film and TV sound work, i.e. the on set/location recording, gear, set ups, etiquette, and networking so I can maybe try to get on some film and/or TV work.

Where do these guys hang out? Doesn't looks like GS really has a dedicated film/TV forum, unless I missed it. (The Music for Picture forum seems to be more focused on scoring and composition, etc...)

Any pointers on where to look?

This forum is the best I've found for location music recording, bar-none. But motion picture dialog recording is a different and just as esoteric a specialty, and the best place I've found for info on that is JWSound. Really good professional level forums are well-"curated" by an expert host with serious cred and experience in that field. As Steve Remote is to location music work, Jeff Wexler is to motion picture production sound. Both take a personal interest in keeping their forums civil and informative. JWSound is a place where a well-informed newb can ask a thoughtful question and have it answered by Oscar winning mixers who have recorded hundreds of big movies, for instance. Do check it out.

There are a few bars in Hollywood and Burbank where these guys hang out. Buy them a drink and they won't stop talking.
