Gear Nut

Schoeps MK41 for vocals

One each, boomed just above frame

Attractive character, tight directivity, magnificently uncoloured off-axis

While it doesn't come out often, I've never been disappointed with the sounds from the MKH8060 that was part of a gear "buyout" I did about 5 years ago. Most impressive was the on-axis LF fullness without becoming "tubby". It is far preferable to the AKG CK98/SE300B combo I used in the '90s for "long distance"/"out-of-frame" deployments.

As usual, careful placement (regarding audio requirements, not just simple "out-of-frame" consideration) is paramount, as is mitigating the reflective "contribution" of the space you're in.

Good luck!
