Non-musical techniques

Hi all,

I have no music to record. I may end up trying to record some ambience outside or some random stuff indoors.

For outside ambience what do you guys use technique-wise and mic wise?

Even with these 'quiet' times, I'd imagine that there is no outdoor environment quieter than the noise floor of any respectable microphone but would you guys reach for a cardioids? Omnis? M/S pair?

I recommend 2-3am as the optimal recording time...

0430h for dawn chorus.
Lack of aircraft should enhance the soundscape.

Well, I'm going to try out a pair of M221s in A/B at varying spacing and check for which space makes the most pleasing soundscape.
