the Shure Choir Stick microphone

I thought the hints and pictures (link below) herein might be of general interest...not to mention the stand and boom bearing a passing resemblance to the similar elegant offerings from Schoeps and Sennheiser ! Now we can include Shure in the same company of exalted greats re stand manufacture and use !

It is worth noting that the capsule and gooseneck appear integrated into the boom, forcing one to use the supplied mic capsules. In its lavalier incarnation, the 185 cardioid element is a decent workhorse for speech reinforcement, but I would gladly pay a premium NOT to have to make a choir recording through a set of them.

Interesting, yes, nice looking, yes. Sound like a Schoeps? I doubt it.

When I mic choirs I use Rode NT3, a true condenser like Schoeps and amazingly good sounding. I have five of them for less than the price of one Schoeps. They aren't as small and elegant as the expensive spread, but sound really good!
