How much of that actually gets used on a typical gig? What's the minimum amount of gear you'd need to record a typical 4-5 piece band with a few singers?

It depends on the kind of session you're going for.

You can build a nice and small package with just one API 24 channel pack, straight to your favorite recordable media or HD. Your 4 or 5 piece band will be tracked nicely, with a few extra mic pre's left over.

If you decide you need to tweak the sound a bit while tracking, you can setup an equal amount of mic pre's, eq's and processing for your recording destination.

The company and myself look at it this way (especially since we're in the live recording and broadcasting business). If you got the time to setup all the equipment in that picture and make it sound as good as it cost to rent it from us, GO FOR IT. If not, leave it behind and go with a simpler rig. You can always augment as time permits.

Come on, any remote people out there? Location recordist or broadcasters?

Show us your photos... Hey, even if you're not a location person, if your gear is not attached to anything but itself, we want to see it! Any studio producers that have portable rig can apply right here.

And one more time, does anyone recognize the gear in the jpg?
Got any questions about the gear in the photo?

But you did a great job guessing them. I wish you didn't delete your post. Oh well, nice job anyway.

But there are still a few items that have not been figured out. Can anyone guess them??? Hint, Rack 2 & Rack 3's items are the same manufacturer.

Hey Mats, everyday you learn something new about that stuff. There's never enough time to check out every patch and every setting. Especially the signal FX processing gear.

Again great job to you and Jay... But what about the remaining pieces????

OK I go for - Swissonic converters - (for your DA88's)

Is that the missing brand?

Or CMI - pre amps & EQ's
