Argentinian Tango- have a listen

After a botched attempt last night here is a taster for you to listen to, recorder: Nagra VI

Late night recording sessions, minimal mics and processing, no added reverb, quite raw and intimate sound with lots of dynamics,

What do you think?

Botched? What happened?

The sound could benefit from a little reverb tail and spaciousness I think. Any way to push the accordion back a little and bring out the violin and piano?

Can you please describe the recording - mics used, approximate distances. Its sounds very nice just on my laptop through ATH-M30s (although maybe the accordion is a bit too prominent - a matter of taste perhaps...)

Just a little close for me and the fiddle is a bit intrusive on occasion (with HD 800) but I like it
Needs a better room that breathes a bit
Where was it ?

Glad you like it Jim. The accordion is leading in this tango and so its normal for it to be more forward and prominent.

The lack of reverb and closeness are related of course , an intimate close sound was sought. Less successful on headphones and better on midrange or bigger monitoring.
