Lapel Mics?

Could an omni directional lapel mic capture voice and acoustic guitar at the same time with decent results, outdoors?

Yes with proper placement, gain structure and gagging.
Nigel Kennedy was on a Late Night Prom playing jazz in his quartet on the Albert Hall Stage.
He was wearing a lapel mike on his coat, mounted underneath his Strad,
It worked wonderfully.
It shouldnt have.

Done that for run and gun documentaries for TV with no time for better,
sometimes with almost decent results.

A mic like DPA 4060 would work just as well as any omni, but would it have to be placed or hidden on the lapel or freely somewhere better? That is the big question. How about wind protection?

It's worked for me. Not anything like a studio recording but in a verite doc it's worked quite well. A variation is to mount the lav in the "valley" between the two bouts of the top-facing side of the guitar. I get a little more beef out of the guitar this way, and less clothes noise from the guitar rubbing against the players body.

So he was singing and playing a guitar at the same time?

That was the OP question..

Luckily' Nige ' never sings
But it was a Strad on network tele.
On the other lapel he could have sung and played, but the Albert Hall would have been miraculously cleared of punters.
