While I do a lot of modding and have built and refurbished countless pieces of audio gear, I found the uneeda solution to this very cost effective and time saving.

I have 4 of these (new) from much missed Tandy. I have cut the horrid T/S jack off and replaced with XLR/M. My 'mod' is to use two Energizer 544, 6.2v silver oxide batteries - and they last for ages. I use them now through a Behringer Xenyx 1002B mixer into a Sony TCD D-10 DAT machine. So I'm 'all battery'. Used for classical recitals string quartets, piano quintets etc. These little PZM's are wonderful for piano recording. Using a couple of draftsman's clips to the underside of the Grand's lid they're virtually invisible. I tuned a piano fro Dame Moura Lympany a short few years ago... - that's what I do all the time.

Lives for gear
I have a pair of modded Tandys
Cant find much use for them
Once doing a film scene ontop of a windy gorge ,I hid a PZM under the picnic blanket
Worked very well, zero wind noise ,great intelligibility
However it did not match any of my previous recordings....
My friend says they make a great drum kit pair ,either side of the bass drum
Another used them on perspex gobbos
Very 80's.
