Talking Beyer MC910 new music samples!

Well, quite a number of you guys were interested in those mics recently. So here we go:
3 short new music heh samples from a recent concert.
1. flute
2. piano (played also on strings) and accordion
3. singer, flute, percussion

All recorded with 2 Beyer MC910, AB 44cm, ~2,5m to DAV BG1 to Tascam 1082. Singer got additional Beyer MC950 spot mic.

Injoy!

I like those Beyer,
Sounds good! What was the spot mic distance and where did the soprano stand?

Very nice. I love the MC930s and I'm curious how these sound.

Was the acoustic natural or did you use a reverb process?

Hi,
i used a LA MLX20 preamp for spot and mic was approx. 1.5m out and very low. Soprano stand aprox. 2m on the right from the center of the stage.

All natural acoustic in a beautifull baroque hall where even G.F.Handel used to play .

Now I know why it sounds so wonderful. The mics are nice too. Thanks!

First time I have heard the 910's. Sound like they are every bit as good as the 930's, which I like very much. Thanks for posting.

Really good acoustic. And these mics seem to be very appropriate there.

I was waiting since a long time for 910 samples. Thanks a lot brle to post them.
As we are there, don't you have any sample with strings instruments ?

MC910

Thanks indeed for the audio samples, especially of new music, which I also record (that and classical and jazz/freejazz music). The MC910 has been rather elusive here in North America...

I bought a matched pair of MC930s based largely on its excellent reputation amongst all the Gearslutz (and others) and I have been *very* impressed. I need another pair of SDCs to round out the collection (for now!) and was thinking of a flex-pair... you know, something with both omni and card caps. But for the price of a pair of AT 4900b bodies and 4049EL/4051EL caps for each, for example, I could buy a second pair of MC930s (a very good thing!) AND a pair of MC910s.

These samples make the decision perhaps a little easier...

There's an some overload lo-freq "rumble" distortion in the vocal recording at high SPLs - is that the microphones, preamps or...?

Otherwise is sounds good.

Hi Mads,
i m not shure what it was exactly, but there was lot of action on the stage with few PA speakers, mic´ed blackboard with lavalier and such... so, I assume that it wasn´t my gear.

If you are interested, here one more short sample of MC910 alone, same setup as above. 9 players and accordion soloist in live concert on small stage, 100 people audience, no soundcheck, my conducting .

It sounds very good but I cannot evaluate a mic from such a sample. I am afraid that I might have it found sounding good also if it would have been recorded by means of cheap Chinese mics. I miss some room sound.

I am interested in the music: who is the composer?
Thank you for sharing.

You are certainly right! my only intention is to give just a snapshot of the mics in different situations, because when i bought them there was nothing comparable on the web.

Right, mics were fairly close to the performers due to closeness of the first row of auditorium.

I agree completely. Nicely done brle!

P.S. The Beyer mics have class. They are different than Schoeps but they have a "sound" that's flattering for many things.

Brie, nice tracks. Didier is correct that it is hard to be absolute in saying how they sound but, as you have suggested, the tracks are great snapshots. I like the tone they have. Very, very good for the price. Are they echt Deutsch or offshore??

The Beyer rep at NAMM did say it was possible to special order them as matched pairs from your dealer, even though they haven't put a package together as standard.

What I like so much with the MC930 and find also in your recordings is the feeling of no distortion and very relaxing sound.
To confirm that, would you have some acoustic samples with bigger dynamic ?
Thanks

Choir music samples using mc 910

Hi everyone,

this is my first time writing here, though it some month ago I used to read many threads. I would like to contribute with some music samples.

Last wednesday I received my pair of unmatched Beyerdynamic mc 910. I had no time to test them untill friday night at the choir rehearsal.

On saturday we moved to a very nice village for a concert, which I recorded.
Here the information:
The chain: two mc 910 directly to a Tascam DR680 using 10 meter SOMMER CABLE - SC-CARBOKAB 225.
The microphones were placed in the middle corridor, about 30 feet from the choir and 7,5 feet high, and 13 inches one from the other.
The place: Santa Maria la Mayor Church at Trujillo, Spain. See the photo below.
The choir: Amadeus choir.

This samples are from that concert. Please comment.
Thanks.
