Question Fostex FR2 LE VS FR2

I was told by a salesman that the Fostex FR2 LE has better preamps and limiter then the older FR2. I found this hard to believe and decided to wait with my shopping until I get a second opinion. Does anyone know if this statement is true?

I doubt this is true since the fr2-le is half the price of the fr-2.

I actually heard that they have the exact same pre-amps, which sound plausible to me, since they are very similar, but the fr2-le has less options

Re: Fostex FR2 LE VS FR2

Fostex told me that the LE had improved mic. pres. over the original. After all, it is about 3 years younger.

I don't know the FR2 but I find the FR-2LE very usable.

I am really surprised by the silence and the global quality of the preamps.

Here is a sample during a choir rehearsal. I kept the silence at the end to judge that.

We have two of the FR-2LEs and are more than pleased with them.

The microphone preamps are GREAT and the only thing that really sucks is the headphone output which can sound pretty strange if driving a pair of low impedance headphones.

If you are looking for a good reasonably priced chip recorder I don't think you would have to look any farther than a FR-2LE.

Best of luck!

It seems that the limiter and the ALC are in the digital domain.
Does anybody have informations about these ?
