yeah, that's the EQ3D. I got 2 of them. They have fixed bands which leaves you to desire more control, but the air band in the unit is worth the cost alone.

Talking

The trouble with this BBS is the more I read, the more I buy!

Managed to snag a (supposedly) near mint DBX 242 off e-bay for
only $99.

Nice grab, Chris. If you want to tinker, there's supposed to be a cap in there that is supposed to be for stability or something, but can easily be removed for clearer sound. Check rec.audio.pro archives for more info.

Thanks Bear for the tip.
Will also consider the mod via Audio Upgrades in the future.
Jim said he could also do my Aphex 109.

I know it's not exactly cheap as compared to the dbx stuff but I scored a used Summit EQP-200B about a week and a half ago for $1500. For those who don't know it, it's basically a dual mono Pultec with a few extra frequencies. It's also not as overbearing as a Pultec can be, much more subtle but it still has that magic thing to it.

So 10 years later lets update the thread.
So specifically in regards to the 500 series...........What 500 series EQ do you think is a great bang for buck unit?
Should i be treading into the 500 series or not?
The cases are so cheap its hard not to play the game and just try each module out and see what works and does not work for me.
Any EQ suggestions?
