pair matching with ribbon mics ?

When considering a pair of ribbon mics for stereo use (piano, classical guitar, quartet or similar chamber group) how significant would you consider pair matching to be ?

My guess would be 'very important'... if used in Blumlein or Faulkner 8" phased array, and less so if wider spacings are involved, or for single use as spot mics ?

Barring accidents or ribbon failure, sag etc over time...would you expect such matching to hold spec as well as a condensor mic...or could a more rapid 'drift' be expected ?

This has been addressed by at least one manufacturer (AEA)...see Joshua E's post here #28 : Does having a matched pair matter?

from this thread: Does having a matched pair matter?

Any thoughts from a remote recording perspective, where a ribbon could expect a tougher life (through transportation etc) than in a studio, perhaps ?

Don’t know much about drift over time with ribbons. I only buy microphones in pairs. Mostly “matched” but not always. One thing to consider if they’re not well matched is that they would still function well in M/S.
