x32 producer pro tools returns

I've got an x32 producer that I am using as a recording console for the moment and when I route card 1-8 from pro tools back into channels 17-24 to monitor whats being recorded I am not hearing any eq changes that I make to the selected channels that I am recording. Just curious as to why this is. Thanks!

If I'm interpreting your question correctly, the selected channels that you're recording don't have the sound of the EQ that you applied on the way into the DAW.

If that's the case, then it's a simple explanation: The tap point to the USB heading into the DAW for recording inputs is post-preamp, but pre-everything-else. You'd have to set your 'Card Out' routing to be for the P16 Ultranet tap point in order for recorded channels to have the insert effects of the channel strip captured in the USB stream to the DAW.

If your question is whether you're not hearing the EQ of the DAW's card 1-8 outputs as you play them through the X32, then that's a more fundamental issue that could be as simple as pressing the EQ button or possibly made complex by some unusual signal path routing for driving your speakers.

Clarify, and we'll get to the bottom of this.

You're correct. I thought I had everything setup to record post eq but pre fader. I am then re-routing my drum sub group in pro tools back to the board to monitor but when I am monitoring my drum return I don't hear the eq being processed on the selected tracks. If I switch back over to monitor what is on the board I can then hear the actual eq adjustments being made.
