Gee, you'd think for a bunch of professional recording engineers, they could figure out how to record the speaking better. Had to turn my volume all the way up to make out what they are saying.

I'm not sure I agree with his statement; "if you're sitting in a concert, you're not hearing anything above 10K, the reason is that it's absorbed into the air before it got to you."

Also the part about strings sounding "awful" on stage. Yes, a string section sounds and records different the further you go back (i.e. more diffused field), but awful?
