Witch Schoeps mic for decca tree?

Hi all,

I need your help.
Witch option is better for decca tree?
1. The Scoeps decca tree set, what incudes CCM 2H
Or
2. Three CMC6 with mk2H capsules

What is the difference?

Thanks,
Tom

Not trying to be rude but just type the two models into Google and you will be instantly rewarded.

Of course I'm looking for the opinions of the users of these mics.

i cannot notice any (significant) difference in sound - to me, it's just a matter of weight/size/convenience/availability/sight lines.

(i didn't ever try schoeps mics on a decca tree though, but in l/c/r and other settings with various capsules)

I would prefer the CMC's because it gives you more options with additional capsules, but when small is necessary, they are hard to beat.

Not for nothing, but a Decca engineer I had the opportunity to assist on a recording once recommended the MK2S as his mic of choice for the tree (at least when not using M50's :-) ), not the 2H.

Do you know if he used them with or without spheres?

Pretty sure he was not using spheres.

The ex Decca engineer that I know - maybe not the same person - is using Spheres with MK2S

Seems like an engineer could do whatever he wants, but spheres would seem to most closely duplicate what is thought to be the classic "Decca Tree."

My "Decca Tree" on Sunday will use Mk21 heads. So I guess, not a Decca Tree, right?
