Audio dropouts Horus AES - Benchmark DAC1

Hi,

I am looking for advice/help on the following problem I am having audio dropouts on Monitoring Pro Tools/Reaper/Playback/listening iTunes/Youtube via the Horus AES output.

My configuration is:

Macbook Pro Mid 2012 High Sierra
Horus
Benchmark DAC1 fed via the Horus AES output

I have installed the latest drivers etc however nothing helped so far :-(

Any help is welcome

Does this happen on the headphone output on the Horus or AES only?

I might agree about High Sierra. Check with Merging, if you haven't already and be ready to down-vert to the edition of OSX that they know works with your interfaces.

It will be a while until everyone has caught up with Apple; I believes that Pro Tools 12 is still not compatible.

First of all thanks to everybody for your help, I discovered in the manual:

Numbers of inputs and outputs available 128 I/O at all sampling rates Note: The number of I/Os could be less if the application does not support these numbers Warning: If you encounter issues such as glitches, reduce the IO count, since Performance is dependent on system Performance & Configuration

So will try to lower the number of I/O, see if this helps.

Yes, in the ASIO world on a PC we have to play off the numbers of I/O resources and buffer sizes. Because I don't know the Mac world at all, I wasn't sure of the terminology, but it has to be the same trade-off.

I have reduced the I/O from 128 to 16 input (2 pre-amps cards installed NON premium) and 8 outputs (2 for headphone 1-8 for AES) however still no progress.

I was wondering if the "Follow DoP detection" shall be ticked off or not?

"Follow DoP detection This should be enabled for applications with DoP (DSD over PCM) support."

Shall deselect it as I am not using DSD?

What does it actually do?
