multitrack portable recording hardware

hi folks,
i own a zoom h5 at the moment--love the mics in it but i am searching for something that will allow me to layer multiple recordings and play them back -- like a zoom r24 but ideally considerably smaller.
if anyone has any suggestions i would be very grateful for advice.

Lot's of choices for portable multitrack recorders, Sound Devices or Zoom come to mind. But when you say: 'layer'..are you looking for a Portastudio -like workflow? In that case, maybe a Tascam Digital Portastudio or Zoom R24 is the best choice.

As of Firmware v. 2.0, the TASCAM DR-05 can do over-dubbing and it's pretty small. This is from the Firmware notes:

"V2.00 additions
- An overdubbing function that allows the input and recorded signals
to be mixed and recorded as a separate file has been added."
