Schoeps MK2 as mid in MS *WITH MKH30???*

Recently used a Microtech Gefell M296-S as Mid in MS with MKH30 and was very pleasantly surprised. I found them to match very well.

Could I possibly hope to think the same of a Schoeps MK2 ???

Interested to hear any practical experiences

Thanks!

You probably mean you used M296-S with MKH30? I don't find it as good a combination as M296 with Schoeps MK8. The Gefell is pretty smooth and that character matches that of MK8 much better.

Having said that, this finding is even more valid for MK2 with MK8. MK2 with MKH30 does really not work well, IMO, because the sides become overly structured and there's too much color shift over the entire stereo image.

MKH30 works really well with MKH20, Sonodore LDM-54 and most fast LDC's.

MK8 also goes very well with Sonodore RCM-402 and all other Schoeps heads, of course.

The mk2 is one of the most beautifully neutral mics out there. I would say try it and see for yourself.
