Sample manipulation

As those seldom few who have read my posts will know, I am quite new to the sample game.

I have been listening to TONS of music lately trying to develop a good ear. I recently came across a sample of one of my favorite songs Atmosphere's Scapegoat sample of Bee Gees's Walking Back to Waterloo | WhoSampled

I copied the sample and put it into ableton to see if I could recreate it (figured this would be some good practice). Though I can't seem to get it to sound the way Ant ( the producer did) I re-panned the audio and tried to e.q. the guitar but it is still much more evident than the way he has it. So my question is, how does he get the guitar strumming so low and in the background and the piano so bright and clear?

I know this must be a another newbei question but I am very anxious to learn, any help is very appreciated!

Sometimes it's a lot of work but sometimes it's just that people have acces to multitrack sessions or the 12" version of a song might have break downs, extended versions, different mixes etc.

MS processing, subtracting channels etc might work depending on the source material.

Or hire Ken Lewis to recreate it.
