Great 808 kit?

IDK if I should browse the internet for a really good TR808 wav drum kit... or get a TR808 plugin like D16 Nepheton???

Use the search function. Some of the best you will find are right here for free.

Download Drumatic. It's pretty good and free.

I think the best clean unprocessed sampled set I've heard so far is indeed right here on GS and FREE:

Chopped:

Haven't heard a proper emulator yet though some are really fun to play around with:

TACTILE SOUNDS: TS-808

KVR: Tromine GT by MARVIN VST - Details

It was surprisingly good and usable. Did get a little glitchy at times, but I think that was in the early phase.

You could also take a look at the Goldbabys Tape808 kit, you ll get processed and raw samples in very high quality. Definitly worth buying.

Does anyone else remember when that guy came on here and posted up his 808 kit that everyone downloaded and thanked him for and it turned out to be the Paid Goldbaby kit?

lol

Was pretty funny, I dont think it was quite the full kit but it was definitely the cream of the crop.

Just copped the Goldbaby 808! What exactly does the "x" and "X_2" stand for next to some of the samples? (Just curious)

It has that long 808 that I was searching for.

Thanks fellas.

I was never sure. The samples are run thru different levels of processing, some may have ran thru 2 passes.

You'll get used to the structure, it is consistent.

Some of those X2s get a tad bit hard to control in a clean mix, end up having to dirty everything else down, not that that's a bad thing in some circumstances.

If it's the 808 tape y'all are talking about, I always assumed the x2 meant it was recorded to tape at high levels twice, kind of resulting in double the saturation/distortion.
