Mic and Pre-Amp w.out breaking the bank...

I'm looking to upgrade my Mic and Pre from my NT1000 and Tampa.

I'm not happy with the sound I have, esp. the sibilant nature of the Rode. (My voice is higher pitched. Think Q-Tip)

So I'm thinking about selling the Tampa and the Rode and getting both a new mic and pre.

I'm trying to work around a $1000 budget.

I'm heavily considering the SM7 (as recommended by Tony and a few others)

I also want to look into a few condensors as I do have a Vocal Booth to record in, so I want to see what kind of options I have.

Outside of the SM7 and RE-20, what mics should I look into?

Also what Pres should I checkout to compliment those Mics?

I've done some searching and reading, but most combos are out of my price range.

Any ideas?

Sm7 is the bomb.

Is you're vocal booth good? Lots of people say they have a vocal booth - but it sounds like ****e.

The SM7 takes the room out of the equation. Great mic for rap. Great mic full stop.

Then it's all about a dope pre.
