i realize its all entirely subjective, but its good to have a reference point.
"Top Quality" can be "mediocre" to some or "the best A/D ever" to others.
This is like the $10,000 question isn't it?
I can say that the converter sounds great... When opening the top, you can see that they used the API 2510 discrete opamps in the analog section of the converter (same opamp as the 8200).. The thing sounds like an API, and uses what has been described as the best A/D chip on the market.
So, how does it sound compared to the RME, Mytek, and Apogee's of the world... I'm not ready to say it sounds better or worse than any of them. To my ears it is a big improvement over the Digi 002 which is all I have here to compare to. I really want to track some vocals with it before I say it's the "greatest converter ever" or anything like that. But, people aren't going to be disappointed with this converter.
