Justice League Drums WTF MAN !!!

i need Drums like those clean light ones in maybach music i understand its mixing in most cases but these samples are clean from the jump. I have native instruments 70's drums and a few others but i cant recreate at all i never cared for these hits Until i started messing which samples in which these type of drums would SET IT OFF !

Iam OK with Drums i just wonder how do they get these samples it cant but impossible to get right ??????

Hey man,

Truth? there is nothing special about those drums, and I'm not being disrespectful, as those guys are great and Rook has been very generous with tips etc but in these cases, it really comes down to sound selection. the drums compliment the arrangments, the sounds and tones therin and the pattern of the drums loops.

and a great mix.

That is only my opinion tho.

I Kinda disagree With the Arrangement Being More important than the sounds its the sounds that make the track imo

I really feel like this is every drum bank I own. It's really just boom bap drums without being so upfront in the mix. They are probably filtered to take some of the low end out of the snare in particular. Then they are just mixed more brightly. If you can't find drum samples like this, you are not looking very hard.

Who said that?

I've heard this before. Its certainly debatable but the whole can certainly be greater than the parts, meaning that so long as the music and performance is tight, you dont need to lean on having the best, most unique sounds. Each to their own, there are many ways to skin a cat these days.

Is ez drummer how they are getting the drum fills in there with flams and tom rolls. I thought they had pulled in a live drummer for the fills. Can ez drummer do that? If so, please elaborate. That's dope if that's how they are getting the fills in there. I thought ez drummer was for cats who didn't want to program drums, but wanted instant drum tracks. Is JL using pre-programmed fills for this track or are those fills being played live on Roland V-Drums. Somebody school me. I've been trying simulate those kind of fills on my MP and it was struggling. But, if you're telling me I can get those kinds of funky fills in something like ez drummer, that will change my game fasho. Alternatively, I also play a little drums myself, so a V-Drum setup may also work. But if I can get fills like that already programmed, or be able to bang them out on my mpc, that would be dope too.

whats so great about these drums? A high passed snare probably some stock sound. I really don't hear anything great about these sounds.

Sonic specialists. Urban Fire.

The drums are amazing. Plus they have tools for layering. So all your previous drums just got better.

Many ways to skin a cat... But these are like a gas powered automated cat skinning factory. Download the demo. Change you music forever.

Thanks for sharing this. Are the fills just preprogrammed midi file that you can use to trigger the sounds or are these fillls being manually triggered. Can anyone tell is the fills in the Maybach Music track were stock preprogrammed fills or did they have a real drummer just trigger some sounds. If those are preprogrammed fills, I'm buyin' this today!

Aight, if you want pre-programmed fill fitting any tempo/signature/genre etc, grab Addictive Drums! I just love those stock fills. You grab the fill you like, drop it on the midi track, choose the sounds, the tweak a bit. Boom!

They aren't programmed fills in Abbey Roads, they are real recorded audio samples of a live drummer doing numerous fills/rolls/flams etc. They recorded different samples for each velocity, so when you press the key at 100 vel, its actually triggering a very slightly different sample than when you hit it at 80, for example. That way it sounds more realistic. Instead of just using 1 sample that only differs in volume when you press the key. These capture a lot the little tonal/pitch differences that occur when you play live. That goes for all the pieces in the kits (kicks, toms, hats, etc) not just snare rolls.

Its a very good sample set program for live sounding drums for like jazz, rock, r&b, etc, but if you expect them to bang like hip hop drums, they can leave something to be desired. I use it only as a sample source for 60's/70's drums like sampling from records. Its great for that because I have a lot more control over the samples than if I just chopped them from records, like adjusting the mic's, pitch, decay, etc. And they're still the same drums used on those old records recorded to tape w/ the same type of equip, it allows you to get a little cleaner take though. Then you can always layer in other drums to make them bang harder.

Tony's correct.....They use EZ drummer.

EZ Drummer is one of the best in my opinion only to be trumped by Superior Drummer the Daddy of EZ drummer same Toontracks product.

I believe that EZ or Superior Drummer with a Drum Pad trigger would give you the exact or even better sound than what you where looking for.
Nothing against J.U.S.T.I.C.E. league they are awesome, but your tailor made sound would be specifically for you, made by you and that would be the best for you....Lol.

I mess with Ross even tho he's trying to steal biggie signature "Ugh" he just added a little more crust to it lol. Nevertheless, it's a good song I like the musical components I have to say tho with the kick drum just find a similar sample and do some slight processing. I think almost every hip hop producer has a kick similar to this somewhere in their library. On a side note don't the drum selection and pattern kinda remind you of "Juicy"

Dig and chop, mic it up, mix!

None of the drums on that record are library or preset sounds.

If you're a producer, you're also a sound designer. Make your own sounds.

Their engineer is obsessed with recording live drums, which may tell you something about why their drums sound the way they are.

Layer a tambourine over your snare, put your snare through a hi-pass, and coordinate kicks with the bassline, and put a good amount of reverb on the hats. Really nothing special about these drums. And dont compress anything except maybe light compression on the kicks.
