Gearslutz Forum member services directory! (free to list) What would you list?

Long overdue, this will be online soon.

What service (paid or barter) would you want to list?

Imagine you had one "core" service and up to 5 additional services you offer that could be "tags". (like drum tuition, re-amping etc)

Help me figure out a listing format...

The idea is to help promote GS members pro audio related businesses or services.

The directory would be visible to members and non members.

Thanks

(I am copying this to multiple sub forums so reply wherever)

Nice, good idea. You could do something this(SaskMusic Directory). I don't think any possible category is left out.
Check out the "detailed search" to the left.

You're going to see basic things show up again and again.

I would list-

Mixing
Production - Urban (Hip Hop, Electronica, Club)

and if my Violin experiment goes well, I would add

Instrumentalist - All (Western)

Doing a main category followed by sub-categories would probably be the way to go - since there's a lot of producers for example - but you're getting a very different package when you hire say a country producer vs. a soul/funk producer.

A section for Sound Designers would be excellent.

Free services section??? Also... maybe some form of worldwide vs local specification. I had a quick look last night and may have missed it.

I think you can create your own categories when listing.

Free services?

That sounds a bit weird..

Do you mean people wanting to 'practice' mixing and mastering to look for 'clients' (victims!)

Or mastering people that will do a 'free' job - but then not hand over the whole file so it isn't actually 'free',,

Could get messed up.

This is for commerce, music related 'services'.

you're right. Potential nightmare waiting to happen. heh

Reason behind my vague is that I've seen a number of posts where engineers would like to get some real world experience in a different genre. I was thinking of a way to facilitate this so the the outcome could be a win/win.

No biggie by any means.
