mic chain help

I want to use a solo/610 pre into a presonus studio channel within my mic chain, is this a bad idea? I would not use the pre on the presonus but id use the comp and eq end of it... or is that a bad idea when it comes down to hiss noise lol... please help

No its not a bad idea, if thats what gets you the sound you want for that particular vocal or instrument.
You use what ever works. no one here can tell you if its bad or good. Let your ears decide whats good and bad, as what works for one vocal may not work for another vocal.
Use your ears and that dense mass between your ears (your brain). Those 2 things will let you know if its good or bad

mic chain help

Line out of 610 needs to go to a line in, not mic in.

Get good levels with 610 then add the presonus in the chain with the comp& eq bypassed. Make sure levels are still good. Un bypass comp & eq and tweak away!

In short, make sure you have proper signal routing gain structure.

I did a shoot out with all 3 of my Mics and you can tell right away witch mic is better..... my old MK 219 sounds way better to me then my sm7 but my MK is crap because it is all beet up.... now Im wondering if I should be looking for a better Mic insted of a better Pre..... Hmmmm Bla!!!!
