Lives for gear

Mandatory:
Five beats a day, minimum. Not finished, complete beats, but skeletons and ideas. The best ones will get finished on the weekend and emailed out and posted to soundcloud.

Exec and engineer at least one mixtape.

Get back to my networking grind.

Lower priority:
Collab with musicians to get some live tracks into the mix.

Piano lessons. Haven't had any since high school.

Stop spending so much time on music tech forums and spend more online time networking...

Mine is - don't buy a single bit of gear or software for the entire year. This includes kontakt instruments, sample libraries etc.

Just when you start getting frustrated, before you scrap..save project into a folder called 'unfinished' or something and revisit in a few weeks/months.

Gotta do it before you get frustrated though or else you connect those feelings with the project.

With a bit of luck when you go back through that 'unfinished' folder the music would have left your memory mostly and you can hear it with fresh ears. Started doing this and turns out I was scraping some good stuff, I really lose perspective if I get stuck on something and hear it loop over and over and over..end up hating it.

People doing this for a living wouldn't have the luxury of doing this obviously. Not sure how people do sample recreation and stuff like that...I'd be tearing my hair out...and that's probably why I'm not pro
