My partner uses logic and i use protools..can we buy a vst and/or au plug in and use them simultaneously. OR are plugins not transferable between differnet daws.????

Let me know how we should go about doing this..

you can buy the same plugins (eg waves, soundtoys, URS, IK etc) but you each need your own copies. Any plugin that runs AU and RTAS will work on both platforms.

VST isn't compatible with Pro Tools unless you have a VST wrapper. However, IMO, I'd just stay away from using them. Many compatible plug-ins require ilok authorizations. If this is the case two machines cannot use them simultaneously. Some plug-ins and virtual instruments just require a serial number and are good for 2-4 uses on the same license. If this is the case than yeah, sure, I don't see why not.

It all depends on the plug-in.

Strictly speaking though, it's breaking the EULA to buy one plugin then share the 2 or more authorisations it comes with between your mates. Unless you've got a company together or something.
