This is hot!! Shouts to SamIAm on the boards. Watch as they create monica's first single. Also this is the first time I saw a clip of Stargate. If you don't know who they are why are u even doing this?

I especially like and respect what Lary Jackson of J Records had to say at the meeting, as he was right on point.

Is it a coincedence that the single is always the LAST thing they need? I mean how come EVERY ALBUM starts with cut after cut after cut, and then after everything is assessed, they NEVER have a first single.. they ALWAYS have third single, ALWAYS...Then starts the important relay of information about how 'what we need right now is a first single' as if the people involved weren't shooting for that from the start. I mean, is it possible that song you cut way back last year that everyone LOVED at the time is the first single, and maybe everyones overthinking things? And maybe what you're REALLY asking for is something NEW from a proven hitmaker, so everyone FEELS good about it, despite how truly average it may be?

And i think the only more cliche situation in that video was how the 'artist' didnt know what she should be doing for her album, and had to really FIGURE IT OUT... In todays day and age, with Beyonce, Jordan Sparks, Janet, Danity Kane, Keysha Cole, how does MONICA not know what to do?? Its simple, cut a GREAT song... And after all that analyzing and questioning, you just KNOW its gonna be a straight four on the floor beat with a pretty four bar harp loop behind it produced by stargate.. I mean why not just cut that record at the BEGINNING of the project, so you HAVE your first single already!!!heh

But Monica is a great artist imho and she deserves better than that.
She really should get back with Dianne Warren.

Agreed. And why do they act like this is do or die on her fifth album?? Shouldn't they have this attitude with every record they make?

lol maybe we need to point them to Sonicspecialists website? stargate is ontop of their game cause they make catchy records, stuff u can sing along to, its not just about their beats but also who writes their records... that said i dont think public cares about the drum patern or what not, they just want that sing along big pop records.

I loved to see b. cox whole creative process. Monica is definately hood. She has gotten a lot of chances I hope she can deliver this go round..

It's just funny to see someone question someone of B.Cox's caliber. It's good to know we all go thru a lot of the same ish in this music game....

He's definately got a talented team....

anybody know why he was going thru records. I thought he didn't sample..

He samples (as well as just looking for inspiration).

I don't know his discography, but there's definitely a few joints with samples.. usually the bed of the track, with keys over top.

He's hot wit it.

Kudos to the OP themanager.Nice find alright.
A few thingsworth a mention I feel:

1. Great series of vids. Nice job DimeWars(?) Killer job. Loved it.

2. Mad pressure for all involved. Guess that's why their all at the top of the game — they can have the pressure, AND get the results. Tough gig.

3. That 'Adonis' had his game on that day. I wonder if really all it took him was, what, 2-3 minutes to get that top line, concept and lyrics like that? Man, I just give up now. lol.

4. Awesome to see Stargate doing their thing

5. I agree with Eric comments regarding the 'first single' scramble

6. SamIam looked mad. Literally. Good to see him though. Kudos to him for his hustle. Would love to get him back here.

7. Overall, was cool to see Doppler and Silent Sound and the whole 'inside story/ fly on the wall' thing. Very cool. Very interesting.

Okay, finally watched it.
My points:

1) thx to the OP
2) Stargate **** was cheeseball. Would go over fine, I'm sure, but very second-rate Irreplaceable (any irony there???)
3) Still Standing is ****ing Hot. EXCEPT.. why did Luda have to suck balls on it?? lol.. seems like a good choice for the song I guess, but damn he dropped the ball imo -- that verse :(

4) last but not least, and I this wasn't anything new from this video:

B.Cox & Fam ARE DA ****IN' TEAM BABY!!

C Heat -- no, Adonis didn't write that song in 3 minutes, but he did probably outline his ideas that fast. And I bet the rest (lyrics) did still come incredibly fast.. certainly not the pace I go at :(. I've always been impressed by him in the videos where we've had glimses of them working.

They could have done without the autotune on that vocal playback.
I hope that they get that "single" because imo that song is just run of the milll and not what mr record company man was talking about.
Not hatin'-just statin'
Monicas biggest hit was For You I Will and as I said before she should go back to Diane Warren for the BIG ONE.

Where's she been? Seems like everyone went cold on her for the last few years, especially in the R&B market.

I just know she's gotta have some killer songs just waiting for a home.

Would love to hear Foster do a killer new Diane track heh

Can't wait for this (Monica's) record to drop also.

i think b cox has every bathing ape shirt ever made...

agreed on the song being run of the mill... adonis sounded better on it than she did.. was more vibe in his performance. the track is hot, but w the right vocals, it could become a smash...

stargate thing was def their standard thing, but will still get placed...

i've always wondered why writers never re-write... why not write to it... and come back to see if u can get something hotter.. they just go with what they feel at the moment and leave it at that.. kinda like wayne freestyling carter 3.. imagine how much BETTER it would be if he actually spent a little bit of time on the project..

this is mebbe a reflection of our disposable society..

i wonder if stargate works one at a time with the artist.. seemed like he was doing all the work incl engineering.

btw tony, u get my pm?

I'm i the only one that was feel'n that first beat that got X'ed. I could see the frustration in b cox eyes. And not like monica was being nice about it either. I thought that synth had 10x the emotion as the one they went with.
