another mic pre question :)

What pre to choose for RnB, HIP-HOP?
I'm on a budget + i'm from Lithuania and there are not many options

So, I can choose from:

DBX 286A
Art PRO CHANNEL, MPA Gold
Presonus Blue tube
Aphex 207D

Now I have RODE nt1a and audiophile 2496.

looks like your budget is pretty tight. i'd say, in that price range, get a Groove Tubes Brick

The brick

Yeah cause all of those other pre's do not hine on vocals. maybe as DI on some things but the groovetubes brick will compliment your set up nicely

Hip Hop Mic

Audio Technica 4040 Mic and Focus Rite Pre - turn on compressor on the Focus Rite and you will have the perfect hip hop vocal setup. Trust me, its amazing for under 1K.

Seriously.

I have used most setups and for most people who are on budget an Audio Technica 4040 and Focus Rite pre is the perfect combo. It gives you a nice flat vocal for hip hop and gives you nice low end to give the voice some definition.

I'd agree with this suggestion, dependant on what mic you would pair it up with. I would not suggest using an Audio Technica mic with an RNP. That combination is too clean and boring, and makes it harder on you to get the vocal cutting through the mix the right way later on, unless you are rapping over a soft balad or something........

Brick

Thx again for the responses.

I decided to buy Brick, but there are not Groove Tubes dealers in Lithuania.

I found one in Germany for 530 Euro (with delivery), but I think price is too high.
Or maybe not?

What do you think about it?
Do you know any e-shops with lower prices, that ships in EU?

I have a Brick. You will be very happy with it. BUT, also get a Shure or Audio Technica inline pad to go with it if your mics don't have built in pads.
