ok.
my point is it's not a sample but a replay/interpolation.

Yeah man, where else do people start a hail storm over like a less than one minue loop of 3 chords?

Or a kick drum? A keyboard preset?

I was talking with Sirocco about that the other day... Only in our culture will you see a prolonged fight over like, the 15 ms transient of a snare drum on a particular album.

You guys are f*cking flies without touching the edges.

Sorry, I just needed to place this one somewhere.

The funny story is that Aznavour's producer, M. Levonne, found out way later that his artist was sampled. Well, he got his money at the end if its all that matters.

the phrazing of a melody doesn't make it a "sampled part".
otherwise, you could claim all music being sampled by going through your
classic music collection. it all has been done before.

neither the first nor the second example were sampled, both were interpolated though.

the Doctor is known for always implementing one "sloppy", live element into his beats. in most cases a guitar line, sometimes a piano, often strings.

tight phrazing is everything when it comes to hip hop beats.

LMAO. The 15ms transient of a snare drum on a particular album. This one is classic.

Here for the gear

this **** is crazy! it's mystified me for years. after reading this thread and doing some listening to the examples posted I feel like I'm starting to get how it was created. I think of it as the sampling/mechanization of a very human (not perfect) performance.

why so mysterious, pretty sure its just Scott playing for the duration of the track or at least a very long loop, I think all the live guitar and bass is the same on the album and played throughout each song not looped up, probably an important component to how great the album sounds imo.
