Best way to smooth out these raspy vowel sounds

Hello all- I'd like your opinion on the best way to smooth out the raspy sounding vowels in these two samples. Overall, i like the way the vocals are eq'd and such but I can't figure out how to tame the raspy "i" and "a" sounds on these individual words.

Would you automate an eq, de-esser, or compressor, or do something else? Thank you

You can try a compressor and/or EQ. The De-esser are for shhhh, tsssss, chhhh, pssss, not I's and A's, so i wouldn't even try a de-esser.

FYI: this could have been solved in the recording stage with the vocal performance

This does not sound bad at all, but if you are not happy with a part you can just zoom into it and eq and compress the one word or whatever.

Try to loop the segment with a nasty signal, and turn it down manually. Or gently cut EQ type FabFilter ProQ3, there's a great MakeGane
