Auto tune issues

I’ve been noticing a really weird problem when I use auto tune for recording vocals. For my personal setup, I’m running a TLM 103 straight into my Saffire Pro 40 and even when I have the auto tune cranked all the way up, the plugin doesn’t register the vocalists notes very well. It sounds as if the auto tune is on a very very low setting so you get an idea. I also noticed this problem when I was recording at a bigger studio using a U87 into a BAE 1073. However, when I drove the BAE a little harder the auto tune started to register the notes way better! So I’m wondering if this is a problem with me not having a preamp to drive to vocals a little harder or if the problem is elsewhere. I’m considering buying an ISA One preamp right now or a GAP 73 and just wanted some opinions on what the problem is. Thanks

What version of Autotune? And not registering?

Auto tune EFX, and by not registering I mean the vocalist’s notes are not snapping to the correct notes via the plugin. It sounds as if the auto tune is on a very very low setting, when I have it on the highest setting.

Not recording loud enough. Fine line to keep from clipping and recording hot enough for Antares to ‘register’.

Do u have it on the correct scale? Sounds like u might have it on chromatic.

No I definitely have the right key, it literally just doesn't register the vocalists notes into the plugin 100% of the time. As I mentioned it just sounds like the auto tune is on a really low setting and doesn't correct the notes.
