Majority of mainstream mixes are not that great tbh. They're straight, and do the job, but nothing amazing. Everything is smashed aka loudness wars.

no because that would mean a 27 year old did a better job than people twice his age

He was even younger when he mixed To Pimp A Butterfly, and no one seems to dispute his role on that album.

Derek Ali recorded and mixed DAMN.
He told @ Mix With The Masters what vocal chain he used on kendrick vocals. What speaker he used while mixing, etc.

I won't speak on the mixes as I've only listened via Apple Music. But if a younger cat did mix this, I'm rooting for him.

As for the material, I liked exactly half. Yah, Element, Feel, Pride, (back half of) XXX, Fear & Duckworth. Unfortunately, .500 is not enough for a vinyl purchase.
The tracks are typically at fault for the songs I don't care for. And I agree with the posters not into those voices he does, though they're never bad enough for me to dislike a song.

Ha! Just not a fan of that ultra synthetic/electro style production.

Sony C800G - Neve 1073 - TubeTech CL1B
or
Neumann u47 (tube) - Neve 1073 - TubeTech CL1B

Depending on if Kendrick did melodic rap or agressive rap.

He also told on Pensado's Place he likes to use DBX 160 on vocals, and Fairchild 670 on Parralel Buss for vox.

He mixes on an Auratone in mono, then check the mix in stereo on the NS10m and the Augspurger. But 80-90% of the mix is done in the Auratone in mono.

Cheers

Daz Dillinger On Which Songs Dr. Dre Wrongly Got Credit For
Those records sound like other Dre records. I only skimmed, but until I hear the details, this looks like another case of beat maker vs producer. Uninformed beat makers always think they got jerked out of production credit.

On the flip side, Puffy was known for sprinkling some bells on the beat and taking credit. I dunno, I wasn't in the room to say what did or didn't happen with Dre and Daz (they sound like other Daz records too...). But I do know there's (or at least there was) a whole lot of shady in the industry. Imma take Daz on this one.
