Api a2d and mic(s).

Other than that I don't know what you need. I think you can make music just fine with the rest of that stuff.

What do you feel like you need or is missing from your setup? Does the room you track vocals in sound good?

I was thinking new mic and mic pre my self

the room I record my vocals in is small,it was built a few years ago
It was made from 1/2 in high fiber density board w/t two angled 1/2 plexy glass windows.the rest was lined with arulex foam.kinda short on space.
do you think a 10ft by 10ft booth would make a big diff.

Nah, you don't want a square room anyway.

That Api AD2 will also give you a new stereo set of converters to track critical things through and avoid the 002 converters. Great bang for the buck.

As far as mics go there are a jillion choices, i'd search on here for a few hours and then audition some stuff if you get a chance.

It never fails,

Most spend money on mics, pres, and everything else- but what about your ears. To me a good set of monitors is paramount.

If I was you and had 10K in your situation, I would get a good D/A converter for my monitors like a DAC-1, a good set of monitors, have the control room properly treated. If anything is left one good high end mic, a good pre, and some better A/D converters.

this list is cool but i wouldnt buy the triton88key.. id get a triton rack, motif rack, and a roland rack(whtever model)k.. BEST OF ALL WORLDS!! and get a good midi keyboard.. you would save a lot of space..plus the sequencer in the triton gets to be a pain later. you can do all your sequencing on your MPC(3000 or 4000) (which is way better than the triton IMO)

that is what i would or should of done back in the day..lol (i have a triton studio 88key, and it is just too f'i%ngh big.. )

BTW you can get a good used sound module/rack of either one of these listed items for a g or lesss..

thats mah 2 cents!

Thanx for the replys
I bought the trition a few years ago, wish I went with the midi keyboard and the sound module route.Do you think I should sell the trition or just buy the modules?
I also noticed that nobody suggested a external compressor in the vocal chain.Isnt that important

I'll second the emotion! A few different flavors to think about though.

Aurora 8 w/adat, cables and Fulcrom Summer $3200
Pendulum Audio MDP1 $2200 (or any pre with a TON of headroom for summing)
Peluso P12 & 2247 $2400

Look and listen to the new Focal and Genelec 8240 - I think monitors and treatment are the most important.

with readytraps you can do it inexpensively. 12 various traps for about $550..
