Weird, strange and oddball mics

Hi Sylvia!

Thank you for doing this extra Q&A round, it's awesome to have you around!

On your book you talk about some weird, strange and oddball microphones, such as the Red 12 mics from re-purposed shotgun cartridges. I'd like to ask you about your other findings and what tips can you give us when hunting for these non-conventional and unique mics? Is it an "empirical" thing where you test what comes up, do you research the subject or is it a mix of both practical experience and previous knowledge you gathered over the years? What should we look out for when hunting these mics?

Best regards and thanks once again for this opportunity!
