Starting new patches

Do you have a particular place you like to start when building a new synth patch? (IE the romplery out there ambient type patches) Do you try to build the patch first and then add effects after, or just go with the flow and add effects whenever it strikes? That wouldn't happen to be the koto patch from the k4 on Iwo Jima Drugmuppet would it?

If the synth has an initialized patch I like to work from there, else I just find a preset that is in the direction of what sound I want to make and work it from there. Just going with the flow...sculpting the sound taking bits of, adding bits etc.

Thats indeed the Kawai K4 with an altered koto patch added some pad character to it
