Mixing & Mastering

Hi Robert,

I am a long time fan of your productions.

I have watched several interviews you did in the past when you talk about mastering. One of the things I remember most is your advice against using mastering plug-ins on your own productions if you plan to send your music to be mastered. I remember this being due to the lack of dynamics and headroom the mastering engineer has to work with.

I was wondering if you could provide certain mixing tips or guidelines to amateur producers prior to sending your tracks off to be mastered.

Thanks for your time!

its not so difficult...

just don't use limiter on the master when you want to send the track to a mastering place, and try not to overuse bus compression...

but in the end its really up to your taste.

leave some headroom, 2-4 db under zero is cool....

i am happy getting 24bit 44.1khz stereo tracks....
