Desert Island Hardware Set Up

Hey guys

Interested to hear about what you'd pick for your desert island hardware set up.

You're allowed:

1 Poly Synth
1 Mono Synth
1 Reverb unit
1 Fx unit
1 Drum Machine
1 Sampler (including all its factory sounds)

What would you choose?

Assume you have a laptop to record audio and trigger MIDI (but where all the bundled plugins/synths/sounds are deactivated) - i.e. you don't need to pick hardware units that are good for the workflow of MIDI / arrangment / recording - more interested in hearing about which bits of hardware you couldn't live without - also interested to hear about the runners up in each category if it's hard to make a call.

PS Glastonbury 2004 was legendary.

ok Solon , i'll bite.

currently id pick

poly = prophet 6 , xpander cames a close second.
mono = arp 2600 super flexible and fantastic sounding.
reverb = eventide space . sound and knobs.
FX = eventide h3000 because I've never had one and would love to learn
drum machine = 909 , old friend rytm is a close second , new friend.
sampler = e3 because i want one! s900 second choice as I'm digging the old lo fi aka sound at the moment.

glad to have been of service at glastonbury 04!

hey paul - thanks for the response - great to hear your choices!

agree h3000 is a good choice for a desert island - it's so deep and has so many options that it's somewhat overwhelming for everyday work when there are so many other quicker options - but on the desert island it would be awesome cause you'd be forced to get in there and learn it.

interesting choice on the reverb front - was expecting something grand like lexicon 224 or 480 - makes me want to check the space the out.

thought it would be hard to go past the 909, but that's cool to hear a vote for the rytm - been thinking about that one for a while.

what about a desk to bring it all together? ssl? neve?

maybe we should get a crowdfunding campaign going to make this happen!!

Yes on second thoughts I would've better to have a lexicon either of those would do!

Desk wise I recon I'd go for a classic G series ssl.

Excellent choice!

(and I note it's not the admittedly nice Amek that you had when I was last in Brighton to see you when I was working at TC Electronic)

PM me if you'd like to catch up, I'll pop in :-)
