Making Decisions Re: Pitch Correction...

Hi Michael, thanks for taking time to contribute your knowledge and experience to this forum.

I was wondering when you decide to use pitch correction, and how... whether it is up to you, or if the labels expect it these days... i'm assuming as with everything, it depends on the song/artist.... how do you strike the balance between artistic personality/integrity and 'perfection'?

It's just part of my job to insure all is sounding musically good. I don't care if a vocal gets pitchy if it's part of the feel. When the pitch distracts me from listening to them sing, that's when I correct it. I don't over correct. I'm not interested in a perfectly pitched vocal because that also takes away from a good performance. I just correct where it's needed to keep the flow going.
