metering tools

hi luca

a big fan here!

i noticed a separate screen with what seemed like izotope's insight running in your studio, as well as melda's analyser that can overlay multiple tracks' freq. spectra.

that lead me to the following question:

what are, generally, your go-to best practices when it comes to monitoring your RMS levels (and perhaps LUFS or some weighted-curve loudness if you use these). when it comes to actual loudness, do you stick to a certain SPL perhaps, auditioning certain parts of the spectrum, the M and S components, and so on.

in general-- how do you approach analysing the quantifiable components of your mixes, what tools do you use for this purpose, and would you perhaps have a set of best practices or tips in this regard?

cheers!

Hi!!! Melda Multi analyzer for individual stems or tracks and BX Meter for stereo buss (RMS / Dynamic range). As far M/S I do my best to go by feeling, I do check side informations with Melda analyser when I need to remove in a more surgical way specifically on the low ends
