Jeff Buckley - Grace

Howie,

Thank you for taking the time to answer questions on Gearslutz. Your list of credits is utterly *mind boggling*.

I'd love for you to comment on your work on Jeff Buckley's Grace. It is a desert island disc for me. Between the performances, song writing craft and the sonics, the album stands out among the crowd. I have always been struck that the album seemed to avoid the so-called loudness war. As such, it feels very punchy as opposed to squashed. What are your recollections of working on the project? What were the challenges and solutions you found?

It is a reference disc for me when mixing material. I'd love any insight into the process that delivered such stellar results.

Thank you so much for your time & your catalog of work!

Jeff was a very demanding artist and showed up to all the sessions. He was very involved in the process as well as Andy Wallace, who not only mixed the record but produced it too.

Again, this album was a great artist, great producer, great mixer, great mastering engineer = great results!
