Maybe Stagg Brand Chilie with crushed Doritos.

Using a large Diaghram Condensor on a Rapper with no windscreen, or pad switched in.

The output of the local POP station with a signal like the meter in exhibit a (the meter at left) which never changes it's reading.

The place to take your girlfriend when in middle school with carnal intentions.

The Jaws of life.

The sound when you light the wrong end of something.

When you smoke the wrong end of something.

ok...so what's the best sounding bike you ever heard? i prefer a throaty roar to a blatt, and the best i've ever heard was not that long ago from some new model of Ducati...severe head turner from the sound alone. my neighbors old BSA should get an honorable mention also. early 70's, totally stock.

and if i don't ****ing 3 putt a hole it's an occasion...dfegad tut madd

I have ridden up and down hair pin turns in a Tuscan hilltown on a vintage 50's or 60's Moto Guzzi - (as pasenger) Awesome! That had a nice 'putter' sound...and one HUGE flywheel!

By far the coolest engine sound I've ever heard was when going through the tunnel above the North End of the GG Bridge. Whoever it was on that (recent model) Ducati opened it up inside the tunnel, and it sounded like a mix between a lion roar and a fog horn. No putt-putt about it, just a deep, booming, steady tone.

I've heard a pack of Harleys roar through the same tunnel ad it wasn't half as cool sounding.

Jaz, go through that one way tunnel (from the Headlands) with a bike with loud pipes and feel the noise.

I found that my bike resonates well around 4500 rpm in the Caldacot tunnel.

Vrooooommmmm!

Put put.

Yeah, a Duc in that little tunnel with the stoplights on the way out to the Headlands would be like living in the vocal chords of a monster!

My neighbor up the street has a Duc with what must be Two Bros. pipe 'cuz it sounds so sweet going up the block. I should try to find out if he ever goes out there.

BTW, the Headlands are pretty special in themselves. One of the fairest places on Earth.

Story Time

Since we have some Harley guys and some DUC guys in one place its time for a story.

One time, at band camp, ummmm...sorry, wrong story.

lets try that again.

On my way home from work last July, I stopped at a stop light 2 cars back from a guy on a custom Bourget Harley. 4 guys on DUCs came zipping up the outside lanes and pulled up next to the guy on the Harley. The DUCs started revving and looking expectantly at the guy on the Harley. I could see the Harley guy smiling evilly. He popped his clutch and proceeded to burnout in place at the red light throwing bits of rubber and asphalt up over me on my bike and the 2 cars in front of me. Smoke and screaming rubber and the whole bit.

So the DUC's are feeling challenged ready to race now, and the Harley guy stops his burnout. The light turns green and the DUC's zip off, wheelies etc. The guy on the Harley slowly accelerates and putts to the next light.

I pull around next to him and we laugh our asses off waiting for the light to turn.

Hmm... well, being an audio guy, I guess the sound of the bikes is more interesting to me. Speed is fun but overrated, besides Ducs are faster and they sound better.

YMMV. heh

That's the same damn sound my 67 VW Bug made right before the interior filled with smoke!

I love bikes . . . had them my whole life. Even in Manhattan. To me the best bike is one that runs . . . I don't want to work on them . . . I want to ride them and count on them.

I know many that love working on them . . . I don't want to sit in a garage on Sundays with a bike, I love feeling the wind when I ride it. I put 40,000 miles on the bike I have now in a year and a half . . . . loved every second of it.

One great thing about bikes is, it gets me away from this business. You need a break . . this business isn't the only thing in the world, though sadly it is to some.

Hope you have a great diversion!

Is it the sound of dendrites being recalibrated after a long session?

Did I win the Mbox?

It's the sound of our ADL tube DI with it's output stage overdriven. We gotta get that box fixed!
