Roy Hargrove Eearfood

Hi Al,

Earfood is one of my favourite records and I really love the sound of this album.
Could you share some information about the recording session?
Did you separate the musicians or did you use gobos and how did you arrange the musicians in the studio?
What microphones did you use on the different instruments and did you use any room microphones?

Thanks!
Max

all the musicians were in the same room at Capitol except the drummer, I used a Royer on Roy and a Neumann U67 in omni on the sax, two Neumann M149s on the piano and the same on the bass. Most of the tune were the first take. I had everyone close so they had easy access to one another. It was a fun project and these kind of records are what I live for.
