yo cheers fragmentated!
solitaire was an incredible fast approach at making an album. i was really stuck for money - litterally probably the first time when my card was eaten by an atm.
back in the glorious days of making business with pete (namlook), he was still paying advances so i knew, i just had to finish an album for him quick and i would be safe, at least for a while...
ended up doing the whole album within one week.

i guess in/out was still on my desk from kunststoff sessions and i decided to start of with a really long build up ambient version.
definitely, the key track to the album.
it's a live take arranged on the desk and 808 in realtime.
instruments: main synth/brass/cello kinda 2 voice melody is the juno-106;
the diatonic upwards scale is a sequential pro one and the sequence is the default sequence of the pro one's internal sequencer.

drums as mentioned before tr-808, internally sequenced at 32nd resolution.
16 chan fostex mixer
bass line and fm percussion / weird envelope sounds: yamaha tx-802
mid range chord stab: jupiter-6
faster high resonance melody might be mks-50
mad mood: whale chants pitched down (obviously)
boss se-50 step phaser preset
808 kick through ms-20 filter
synth freestyle solo / lfo noise beat (hi resonance noise) also ms-20
the track title is a dedication to "mad" mike banks.
copycat tape delay on all tracks
damaskus - dakar
after hearing the first solo track by my partner in deep space network jonas grossmann, i felt inspired to write something more cinematic and outside of the context of 90s ambient or anything...
lots of yamaha tx-802 long envelope stuff and that crazy oboe kinda sounding thing, as well.
prophet 2000 sampler for ethnic drum loop using internal analog filter.

indian mantra
a "made in two hours" track.
wavetable intro: microwave 1 rev a
chords probably juno-106
drums tr-909
copycat tape delay
tb-303
p.m. stands for a living person and clearly is a love song.
❤
tr-808 through ms-20 filter
resonance melody: mks-50
crazy beatiful cheesy pitchbending etheral solo: tx-802
jupiter-6 arpeggio
always the same three four synths:
juno-106
mks-50
tx-802
microwave 1
ex-8000
pro-one
ms-20
tb-303
prodigy
prophet-2000
sergio leone's wet dream
the other more experimental and conceptual track on the album.
all midi sequencing on entire album: atari 1040 running c-lab creator. exploring automation of midi comtrol data on the tx-802 and the microwave (velocity).
vangelie noisy synth sequence: juno-106
i thought the strings were too, perhaps i even overdubbed something or used the 8-track reel to reel?
anyhow, one of my favourite tracks.
accidentally sounding like enio morricone, so this title is a dedication to him.
listen to the cello sound - substractive synthesis so lively and authentic...
gets me each time - and all of these were two track live recordings - before there was harddisk recording. so mixes would be non reproducable, which gave them a lot more meaning and importance than having to choose from 200 different versions that you saved from your DAW...

amen, peace
pete you are still missed, love d
